Tattyreagh St. Patrick's have been promoting Gaelic games and Irish culture in this rural area on the periphery of Drumragh parish for almost 100 years. We contain several Gaelic football teams ranging from under 8s all the way to senior level. Currently the Tatts play their football at senior level around the top of Division 3. The club is also represented at county level, with two of our senior players playing for Tyrone U-21s, Johnny Harkin and Eoighain Murray.
Recently the club have introduced ladies football teams at u-12, u-14 and u-16 level and will hope to expand this to senior level in the coming years. A Little HistoryIn 1917 the first known team to play Gaelic football in Tattyreagh was formed by Barney Mullan, Peter Devlin and Hugh Darcy. The team played their games on a field in Rathraggan known as Patterson's flat and wore marroon and white jerseys.
In 1932 Tattyreagh became known as the Wolfe Tones and wore black and green jerseys and played their games on Patterson's Flat. The Team of 1967 The most famous of recent Tattyreagh teams was the all conquering St. Patrick's of the late sixties. They played their home games at McCrory's Park and established the red and black that remain their club colours today. This team went from junior football to senior grade in three seasons. This team panel includded Jim McGlone, Sean & Dan Montgomery, Patsy & Sean Mullan, John McCarroll, Eamon Gormley, Peter & Pat McGlone, Anthony Heagney, Paddy & Simon McCrory, Brian, Jim & Dominic Darcy Jimmy & Paddy McGinn, Dessie Corr, John & Mick Grugan and Tommy Baxter. A New Era Slowly but surely the onset of the 90s brought hope and improvement. The Tats began to win the odd game and moved off the bottom of the table. Hopes were high but many disappointments and near misses were to follow. 1994 saw the Tatts lose out in the race for the league title when they lost by a single point to Derrytresk. This youthful team reached junior championship finals in 1995 and 1997 however defeat in both brought more disappointment. Adult Football Success for the Tatts Finally all the hard work of players and management for the past few years would bear fruition in 1998. A year of football that will live long in the memory of those who support the Tatts. They achieved their first ever adult all county title. The team was managed by Pat Darcy and trained by Jimmy McCarron. The captain for that year was Emmett McCarroll. A player who gave 100% commitment and can be classed as one of the best players to have ever worn the red and black for Tattyreagh. The Tatts were promoted to Intermediate football and maintained this status for the next six years. Facilities
The search for a home ended in 1979 when the club established itself in Pairc O'Dorchai. From this humble beginning with a boggy pitch and two small dressing rooms, the club's growth has been phenomenal. There are now two pitches with a set of floodlights around one, which was opened recently in 2007. In 2014 a playpark was built beside the pitch for the enjoyment of children. 2015 was a huge year for the club, with a lot of blood, sweat and tears put in to build the Aidan Mullan Stand, which accomodates for 200 people, with a seated area and a terrace above this. Inside the clubrooms, also created in 2007, there is a kitchen, where players and supporters from both clubs are provided with tea and sandwiches after games to create a social environment. There is also a state of the art facility on display is testament to the effect and determination to provide access to social, leisure, cultural and sporting facilities for the people of this rural community.
